This month I sent one of my sisters a letter, it reads...
Dear Shayne,
I know I still haven’t been able to come over and meet with
you in person, but I wanted to send you a little note to let you know I’m
thinking about you and I really do care. Life has just been a little busy
lately with midterms, spring break, preparations for Easter, and my grandpa had
a heart attack and has been in the hospital the past couple weeks. However,
that is still no excuse so I thought I could send you a spiritual thought via
letter and please let me know if there is anything I can do for you or your
family! You can always find me in primary if you need anything J Lately, I've been thinking a
lot about service and what I can do to reach out to the sisters, families, and
friends in our ward, along with my neighbors. This goes perfectly with what the
topic for visiting teaching is this month (March), activation. I truly believe
service plays a vital role in activation of those who are lost or those who
have strayed away. President Monson has encouraged us to, “reach out to rescue those who need our help and lift
them to the higher road and the better way… it is the lord’s work.” I strongly believe
we can reach out to those in need and shower them with friendship and
service. We can also be an example, a
light in their life. Through our example, just being who we are, we can change
someone’s life for the better. I know you are an example to many, I have seen
the light in your eyes and the selfless service you give to your family and our
ward family. You’re someone I look up to as a caring motherly figure. I hope
all is well with you and your family and please let me know if there is
anything I can do for you or your family. I hope you’re enjoying spring break
and are looking forward to Easter. What a wonderful time of year to remember
and reflect on our Savior.
I also just got a new companion! I'm excited to meet her. My last companion I never met and tried to contact, but she was unreachable. I spoke with the Relief Society president about her and they tried as well. At least my new companion has a phone number! I left her a message and I'm anxious to meet her soon! I also have a new sister to watch over as well! I look forward to contacting her, I sent her an email cause her phone number isn't accurate. Hopefully, I will hear back from her soon!
Lastly, for Valentines, last month, I took each of my sisters a scrumptious treat (got the idea off Pintrest) CUTE! X and O cupcakes! Attached to the treats was this message:
Elder M Russell Ballard said,
“Capture the vision that the Relief Society…
can become one of the most powerful friendshipping
resources we have in the
church.
Reach out early to those being taught and reactivated,
and LOVE
them into the church…”
I truly am grateful for your friendship
and hope to continue
strengthening it! Please know
I am always here if you ever need anything or someone to talk too!
Life
is Sweet! Happy Valentine’s Day!
XOXOX, Alicia De Young
Even though I'm in primary I'm finally starting to feel the love of the sisters in my ward as I meet more of them and get to know who they are. I'm so grateful for the friendships I've made and for the sisterhood of Relief Society it really is a POWERFUL resource in my life.
