Our Country's Capital, What a TREAT!
My dad invited us to join them in DC, during their trip around the country! We were so excited to go together John and Megan had never been before. The plane left very early in the morning we arrived at the airport and boarded the plane just as the sun was beginning to rise.
We were picked up curbside at the airport by an RV! That was a sight to see! The first sight we saw was Arlington National Cemetery. We watched the switching of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier, after we went to Jefferson Memorial.
Second Day in DC started with a ride on the Subway! Look at all those Jackson's hahaha we almost took up one car ourselves! I love how Sabrina looks like she's sleeping next to Megan, my dad is on his phone, Brandon with his head phones in not paying attention, Ashley right behind John reading the paper acting like she doesn't know us and trying to blend in my mom looks like she just got off an exhausting day of work! this picture is priceless!
We started the morning taking a tour of the Library of Congress and the Capitol building, afterwards we split into smaller groups to see the Smithsonian's we wanted to see. The architecture and details in DC are stunning and timeless. BEAUTIFULLY breathtaking!
We went to the National Air and Space Museum and National Museum of Natural History, the Jewels were incredible! We all met together again in the afternoon to see the memorials: the George Washington Monument, World War II memorial, Vietnam Wall, and Lincoln Memorial. Vietnam Wall was emotional for John and very surreal. He emotionally understand the pain of every single name and the life that was lost. He was able to etch not only the name of a man who saved his father's life while serving in Vietnam, but his father's childhood best friend, Art Murphy.
Our last day in DC we were able to go to Mount Vernon and The DC Temple. I LOVE how much my husband LOVES my family! I'm truly blessed with the most amazing men in my life, including my hubby and my daddy! We love you dad thanks for all you do for us, thanks for spoiling us, for teaching us, giving us counsel and guidance, and for the great example that you are on a daily basis!
We had the privilege of attending the temple together as a family. All of us over the age of 12 went with my dad to the DC temple. Peace and comfort, blessings, the work we GET to do, and the spirit that radiates the halls of this holy temple are everlasting.
"ALWAYS have the temple in your SIGHTS. Do nothing which will keep you from entering its doors and partaking of the sacred and eternal blessings there."
